This facade project involved the complete transformation of a residential complex consisting of a 32story tower and an adjoining 4story building. WRG Engineering served as the Structural Engineer of Record and Applicant of Record, providing structural engineering, NYC Department of Buildings filings, permit expediting, and construction administration throughout the project.

The existing brick masonry façade was completely demolished and replaced with a modern curtain wall and window system anchored to the existing reinforced concrete structural frame. A new architectural baguette railing system was incorporated into the façade design to enhance both aesthetics and occupant safety.

One of the project’s greatest challenges was maintaining full occupancy during construction. Our team designed extensive temporary exterior protection systems that allowed residents to remain in their apartments while the façade replacement progressed. Working at elevations exceeding 32 stories required careful consideration of wind loads, winter weather conditions, sequencing, and temporary stabilization to ensure public and occupant safety throughout construction.
